LED v. LPS
The image below shows a before (left side) and after (right side) comparison of harsh, high-glare, blue-rich LED streetlights versus soft, warm, amber Low Pressure Sodium streetlights in Ketchikan, Alaska. LPS streetlights do not contain blue wavelength light, which is a known environmental carcinogen. LPS streetlights can have a luminous efficacy as high as 200 lumens per Watt, meeting or exceeding LED streetlights. LPS streetlights are inexpensive.
